What's All The Fuss?

Sheez.
I went to bed last night, and woke up to all this fuss about our national government shutdown.
What's all the hubbub, bub?
I mean, the sun is still trying to peak through our very normally grey skies, here.
The birds were still making a huge raucous outside my bathroom window while I took a shower with plenty of hot water.  I then hopped in my gigantic SUV and headed at least part of my brood off to school, which as far as I could tell from the drop off lane seemed perfectly normal.
So, again, why is everyone so worried.  Life seems totally normal from here.

Unless, of course, you happen to be one of the thousands of government workers who aren't "Essential personnel" and are home from work today.  They get a free day, or more depending on how long it takes our ever conscientious Congress to act, off.  By free, I mean they won't be getting paid.
So, yeah.
They might be a little upset about the possibility of not being able to pay their bills, losing their homes, etc.  That could suck.
Then there are also all the people who were planning on visiting national parks, museums, etc.  Schools, too, who had field trips planned.  They won't be doing that.  I hope all those teachers have some great pictures of the things in the Smithsonian, because they certainly won't be taking their classes.

So, yeah, that might suck, too.

Wait.  What?  You mean when this is all said and done, it is actually going to cost us money to recover from the shutdown some how?  Seriously?  So, even though we aren't spending money, were also losing money in this whole thing??
What kind of scam is this?

Not only have we taken yet another major black eye in the world's opinion of us, but people are going to struggle with smaller or no paychecks at all, and our over all economy will suffer even more.  This whole thing over a few guys who are having a serious pissing contest to show us who is the bigger and badder of the two parties.

Wrong move, Congress.  Wrong move.

Instead of working together, you have just cost the American people more than we care to pay. Not only have you lost touch with the spirit of America, but you totally fail to see what is most important to us. We don't care about you battle of wills.  There is no winner here, we are all losers thanks to you and losers you should all be come election time.

I think it's about time we started to seriously adopt the slogan "Re Elect Nobody" for the next election.

Perhaps that would grab the attention of those of you who have chosen to make politics your life long career, even though you can't seem to remember the people who put you in office.  You have failed yet again to do your job successfully.  If anyone of us performed our job like you do, we would all be fired, and you should be held to the same standard.  None of you are better than any of us.  Frankly, I'm over the whole us and them thing, anyway.

We are one nation, act like it.

Maybe then you can think about what is truly most important to the whole of America.  Maybe then we can start moving in the right direction again.
I'm really looking forward to the next set of elections.  I hope Congress is, too.
